Box Of Courage #3

I am having the greatest time with these boxes of Courage! I allow myself one a week...this week it goes to a daughter of a friend who lives locally...I suspect it will arrive today and I'm excited about it. I don't know the recipient, I've never met her and this is sent anonymously so, once it's in the mail, it's NOT ABOUT ME!

Hugs to Paige

Hi all,
I'm writing to ask you to send some love and light to Paige, in Fairbanks AK. I haven't heard from her in awhile and I fear that the darkness of the far northern winter is taxing her power charge. Please take a moment to send her what you have available in the way of energetic COURAGE to get through the dark times.

I sent her this box about three weeks ago but don't know that it ever arrived.

Be well,
Connie

Epiphany Spirit Dolls

There was a big personal epiphany that came out of the Treasure Box project.  I was asked to host a craft table for Spirit Dolls and as most of you know, this filled me with some trepidation because I'd never made one in my life and didn't know where to begin.
So, I began with the Treasure Box.  There was so much inspiration there!  I knew we'd brought together a great many elements and there were all your wonderful gifts of completed works that stayed with the box.  And there were lots of cab faces, bits and pieces of wonderful fabric and ribbon. I offered to fly Griselda out here to help me, but alas, she was not available! What she did do was send me a huge number of cabs, and one perfect little packet of the pieces for an art Spirit doll.  It was as magical as you can imagine...as though she sent me a box of wisdom; that is how I received it.  Thank you, thank you Griselda for your gentle teaching methods. What an inspiration you are!

So the following photos are the epiphany: Beautiful girls and women creating beautiful works of art.  It was such a thrill to facilitate the process simply by showing up with a LOT of fabric, ribbon, scissors and glue!  I can't wait to do it again!  THANKS TO ALL YOU!  If you look closely you may see bits of your treasure box contributions in the dolls posted here.  I had intended for the doll to be below the face of the creator, but that didn't work out with uploading the photos...sorry about that!

Treasure Box Auction

Hi All,
I hope this finds you well and enjoying spring-like conditions! We had such a mild winter here in VA. It's becoming more like California than Virginia but I suppose this is just the stark reality of global warming. Sure, it feels nice now but....

My apologies for taking so long to post about the YWCA auction, which took place last Sat., the 15th. It was a wonderful event, The Vagina Monologues a huge hit and the completed Treasure Box brought $300.00. Being the last minute Lucy that I am, I was working away on the "box" part of the treasure box up til the last minute of course and can you believe I didn't take a picture of it???

The good news is that Sharon won the auction for the box and it sits just two doors down from me as we speak. As soon as my headache from all the red wine we drank last night clears, I'll head down there to snap photos of the most wonderful treasure ever created. Ok, Monica's Pink Artist Doll is darned wonderful too!

More to come....
Be well,
Connie

Treasure Box Book Cover

Hi all, I hope this finds you well and enjoying spring like weather like the kind we are having in Virginia.  The sky opened up last night after 1pm and healing, nourishing, magical water fell upon our house and home and river in massive quantities.  I was so moved by the sound of that much water falling on land so very thirsty for moisture.  It was a true gift to the universe and I feel heartened that the Great Mother is and will always heal herself with the nurturing that Father Sky is able to provide.
So, here's the book cover.  I'm so sorry I didn't work harder/faster to send it around. Once I stared with crystals, I couldn't stop until every circle on the front cover was adorned with a sparkle.  The spine features some beautiful findings from the treasure box itself...Joanne or Grace I think added those.
My last task is to find a pretty box big enough to hold all this.  I have a Playstation 3 box that even has a handle, but somehow it just doesn't feel right...unless I cover it with tissue paper and modge podge it...I don't know...any suggestions?
The auction is only 9 days away.  The following day is the class and I'm very nervous.  I plan to take lots of time next week preparing for that.  I will tell you what I learn, hopefully, it will include humility.  I make that my intention.
Love and light to you all,
Namaste`

Griselda Treasure

Greetings all,
I hope this finds you well and doing good work!  Monica, we know you are sewing like a mad woman and Paige may be whoopin on her husband or children cuz I think she's getting that cabin fever thing, poor dear.  I send you both bright white light to warm your tasks, triumphs and trevails.

Gris and I engaged in the T word that can't be said on Etsy cuz they don't like the T word cuz it kind of leaves them out and I completely understand that, but there are some trades that are meant to be beyond the realm of commerce and this is one of them.  The photo is what Gris sent me for the spirit doll class on the 15th.  Perhaps I can get a photographer to show you how it went, I'll at least photograph all the dolls that get made.
Griselda, your generosity is an inspiration and leaves me humbled.  I don't feel that the beads can even begin to hold the energy of all that you packed into a small priority mail box.  The cabs are absolutely stunning and just right for our purposed. Your energetic wisdom is received and I "get" now how this might go for me.  I haven't yet made my first doll, but I hope that will be this week.  When I look at those of yours that I've collected, I'm once again, inspired and humbled.

I'm looking forward to getting to the garage and starting to cut up old clothes for rags.  Thankfully I've got LOADS of yarn from my mad-scarf knitting days and am feeling under control with this new venture.  I don't know why I've been called to it but there are no mistakes and Divine intention is at work.
I send you all blessings of love.

Plea for Spirit Doll stuff

Hi Everyone,
I hope this finds you well.  I also hope you got a letter inviting you to access the official V-Day website.  I entered the request to our local organizer and hope she has/will follow up.
When I showed my friend and neighbor Sharon  the treasure box on New Year Eve, she thought it would be cool to allow visitors to our V-Day "Express Yourself" program on Sat. March 15, to make spirit dolls.  I thought it was a cool idea too and now I'm hosting the table that will allow visitors to create their own spirit dolls.  I want this to be a table where a woman can sit down and create something for herself with a little instruction and a pile of fun stuff to choose from.
Have I mentioned that I've never made a spirit doll?  I've got lots of sticks in  the garage...driftwood from beaches, manzanita from my beloved camp in northern Calif.  So, I was thinking to start with those sticks, wire cab faces to them and then let the visitors wrap them with a prayer for healing and then rags and ribbons and stuff that I can find to add.
Here's the plea:
I need suggestions, and, I need supplies as there is no budget for that.  Any help or suggestions you could offer would be sooo appreciated.  I guess you know by now that I have a proclivity for jumping off cliffs, trusting in my faith parachute to land me where I'm meant to go and this time, I need all the help I can get!
Help!
Love,
Connie

Greetings my Sistas

Friday the 22nd of February at the little house:
It's Friday! What happened to Thursday? Oh, that's right, I started by baking a batch of brownies. And then I couldn't move for about 4 hours. They were very strong brownies...all that chocolate, espresso, cinnamon...etc.

I finished my Snake Phobia story and if you haven't read it on my world of color and light blog,

I would surely love your feedback before I seek wider publication. I'm choosing to let the piece steep over the weekend, so if you have a few minutes to give me, I'd really appreciate it. Grammer editing, style and honest feedback are welcomed. Telling me I can't write is not okay.

I got inspired last night and made four art squares for The Pink Artist project:

It was good to get back to the needle and thread, fabric and bead. My favorite square has a Hoffman Fabric Batik backing of muted rainbow shades of stained glass. To this I sewed a 20 year old Anne Klein black face gold watch, just the face, not the strap. I over laid it with organza, and used french knots to anchor the sheer organza down. Just before the last knot, I slipped in a Thank you card in orange, which matched the embroidery floss. It's my favorite and I didn't take a picture of it because I want it's image to be filed with all the other images that Monica will keep of this incredible HEART -TATA gift she's created.

Monica, Namaste`

Love,
Connie

Sweet Paige

In my World of Color and Light Blog there is an entry titled
"Sweet Paige". Go ahead and Google Sweet Paige and see
where it takes you. From my Sitemeter lens, I see folks from
all over the world clicking into the blog from those search
words. How cool is that? I have not yet had the pleasure to
meet our dear Paige in physical reality, but knowing her spirit
and having an intrinsic understanding of just how to LOVE a
girl named Paige, people from all over the world tune in to
engage.

Sweet Paige, how sweet is that?

xoxo

Hibernation

Greetings my friends and fellow contributors to the Treausre Box...
I am deep in hibernation cave. Everyday I sit with the Treasure box and see and experience what is possible
when we embrace the Artist Way. I tune in to Monica's incredible vision for a cure for Breast Cancer with the
PINK ARTIST project and I look at my little 2 x 2" square and I think I'm not even worthy to submit! Monica's
vision and artistry blow my mind...her vision is so great! Thank you my dear. You inspire me in a way that
makes me grateful to have the gift for needle and thread, bead and wire, clay and rag...Monica, Namaste, my
dear goddess woman. I send you blessings of love and gratitude for calling me up to a higher rung of this spiritual
ladder. May you all be happy, and healthy and whole.

Namaste`,

Treasure Box Book Cover

holy crap paige, i keep creating more work for you. know why? Because you want me to. because you asked me to and when I say me I mean my soul. You can be an artist full time Paige, I promise to keep you busy.

"You do not have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body. " C. S. Lewis

TO be created: A cover of some sort for the Treasure box copy of RETURN OF THE GREAT GODDESS

But wait, let's start that with Paige and she sends it to Monica, who sends it to Joanne who sends it to Connie who sends it to Susan who sends it to Griselda.
How does that sound? Leave your mark in what ever form you choose on the sturdy cover that Paige will contruct.....

oh boy....Perhaps I can embroider a mini-version of our sacred crow as a patch....and then maybe Monica could bead it. who knows, but Sacred Crow is taking flight again!
